People Pleasing, Boundaries, and Burnout: A Trauma-Informed Approach

People-pleasing is often viewed as a personality trait, but for many clients it is a survival strategy rooted in trauma, attachment wounds, and a fear of rejection. Over time, chronic self-sacrifice and difficulty setting boundaries can contribute to emotional exhaustion, resentment, anxiety, and burnout. This presentation explores the connection between trauma, people-pleasing behaviors, boundary challenges, and burnout through a trauma-informed lens. Participants will gain a deeper understanding of the underlying psychological mechanisms that drive these patterns and learn practical, evidence-informed interventions to help clients establish healthier boundaries, reduce burnout, and develop a stronger sense of self. Attendees will leave with actionable strategies they can immediately integrate into clinical practice.
