Presenter Bio

Adon Cherry-Bey, MA CAC-ADs, is Program Manager with the Maryland Department of Health – Justice Services, where she oversees court-ordered SUD placements under Maryland Health-General §§ 8-505 and 8-507. She coordinates with judges, attorneys, and providers to support over 300 clients annually in transitioning from incarceration to treatment. Currently pursuing her Ph.D. at Bowie State University, her research focuses on therapeutic jurisprudence, systemic inequities, and implicit bias in treatment outcomes. Adon is active in civic leadership, including the Baltimore Urban League Guild, and has been honored with awards such as the Rising Star Award.

Her session, “Freedom with Conditions: Confronting Implicit Bias in Post-Incarceration Recovery,” will examine how implicit bias impacts justice-involved individuals as they reenter society. Participants will learn to identify bias in treatment and supervision, understand its effect on recovery outcomes, and explore evidence-based, culturally responsive strategies to build recovery spaces that promote healing, accountability, and social justice.
