Day 1 Session 2A: Topic Title: Imposter Syndrome and the BIPOC Experience: A Discussion of Culture and Stress in the Workplace

Session Summary

Despite BIPOC communities contributions to the rapid growth of the US workforce—many individuals of culture feel unseen and undervalued.  BIPOC fast forward thinkers, executives, engineers, nurses, and individuals in various helping professions often fall victim to Imposter Syndrome as well. Imposter Syndrome is often an extremely debilitating condition resulting in individuals being trapped in their own negative thoughts, skepticisms of self, and never-ending self-doubt.  This unfortunate reality is exacerbated when workplace microagressions are present and respect of culture is absent. The webinar led by Dr. Gibson will discuss strategies to develop workplace wellness lifestyles to mitigate the effects of imposter syndrome symptomology. Interactive tasks to engage attendees will include a mindfulness exercise and a wellness algorithm that will leave a lasting impression on seminar attendees.
